WRIGHT ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF "KENNEDY SOUND"PORTABLE AUDIO POST FOR THE MID-ATLANTIC Washington, D.C.- Award-winning sound designer Kennedy Wright today announced the launch of kennedy sound, an all-digital state-of-the-art audio post-production facility with a difference: it's fully portable. A ten-year veteran of the audio post industry, Wright says he is seeking to address the needs of independent producers who are working on "sophisticated projects with somewhat less sophisticated budgets." Wright took his business concept from the current crop of independent Avid(r) editors who serve D.C. area producers and documentary filmmakers. "Many of these editors are able to take their Avids(r) right to the producers' production offices, and work on a project for weeks on end without the pressure and expense of being in a large post facility," says Wright. Wright served as Director of Audio at D.C.'s Interface Media Group for nearly eight years. During his tenure at Interface Wright designed, edited and mixed sound for numerous documentaries and independent features. "Often these projects were edited on portable systems over eight or ten weeks in the producer's own office. When it came time for the audio mix, the budget only allowed three or four days in a larger facility setting." Which got Wright thinking, "What if the audio mix could be accomplished the same way, at the convenience of the producer, without all the overhead of a large facility?" This thought provided the inspiration that became kennedy sound. The technology for compact, powerful audio editing systems has been around for several years, says Wright. (Kennedy sound features the industry-standard Pro Tools(r) 24/Mix Plus version 5.01 audio editing system.) But he also maintains that technology is only half of the equation. "All the technology in the world can't change the laws of physics; an environment for accurate audio editing and mixing must have the proper acoustical characteristics." To achieve this end kennedy sound employs the Acoustic Sciences Corp.'s Attack Wall(r) modular acoustical conditioning system. This set of acoustically absorptive and reflective panels allows Wright to create a space for high-resolution audio monitoring in virtually any standard office. "It's a comprehensive system that allows me to bring the post studio right to the producer's door," says Wright. Contact: kennedy sound (202) 364-4618 mail@kennedysound.com |
